MISSIONAL COMMUNITIES: A FAMILY OF MISSIONARY DISCIPLES SENT TO MAKE DISCIPLES

Our mission is to see people who don't yet know Jesus, find real relationship with Him. We see this happening as we grow in our love for God, for the church and for the world. While Sundays are a big part of making this mission happen, we believe the main action is in our Missional Communities.

A missional community is: A family of missionary disciples sent to make disciples. As followers of Jesus we live out our identity as disciples, as a family and as missionaries, in Missional Communities. Here's what it looks like.

#1 DISCIPLES (LOVE GOD)

Jesus' followers are called 'disciples'. In the original language the Bible was written in (Ancient Greek) the word literally means 'student' or 'learner'. As disciples we study the Bible together because we believe it God's Word. As disciples we are called to know His word deeply and to help one another know and live out what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.

#2 FAMILY (LOVE THE CHURCH)

God doesn't just save us to an individual relationship to Himself, He saves us into a family. For this reason our Missional Communities live out the reality of this in very practical ways. We live out our family identity by helping each other to live out the gospel in everyday life and by committing to helping each other in very practical ways. We love one another by cooking meals for each other, helping each other move house, helping one another financially and in a myriad of other ways. In a very real ways, our missional communities should act like a healthy family does!

#3 MISSION (LOVE THE WORLD)

Every missional community at City Light is working towards have a defined mission. This means that each group is looking to love a group of people who are far from Jesus and share Christ with them. This might be a school community, sporting team, neighbourhood or whatever. Each Missional Community is looking have a defined group of people that they are pouring there live into to share the love of Christ.
