BURWOOD CAMPUS PLANT

THE VOTE:

Why are we doing a vote?

In order to make an informed decision about proceeding with the Burwood Campus plant, we (the Elders) want to gauge how prepared the church membership is to pursue this plant.  Planting a campus is costly (financially and relationally), and we want to be sure that the church knows what it will mean to plant a campus and are willing to undertake those costs.

WHY ARE WE VOTING BEFORE FINDING OUT WHO THE PLANTER IS?

If the plans for a Burwood Campus proceeds it will require more concrete commitments from members who are going or staying. In order to make those commitments members will need to know who is planting the campus and what they are like. At this stage we are not looking for that level of commitment. What we are looking to find out is whether the church understands the risks and costs associated with planting a campus.

WHAT WILL BE DONE WITH THE VOTE?

On Sunday the 4th of March voting will open at 9AM and close 24 hours later at 9AM on Monday the 5th of March. The Elders will then wait until the Campus Pastor's assessment is completed by the A29 church planting network to make a decision about proceeding with the Campus Plant. The decision will be made based on the results of both the vote and the assessment.

WILL THE RESULTS OF THE VOTE BE PUBLISHED?

Yes.

WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE VOTING ON?

We are voting on whether or not we, as a church, are willing to take on the costs of undergoing a campus plant. This does not mean that you are signing your life away right now but that you understand what impact this will have on church life and are willing to proceed. The voting form will look as follows:

INFORMATION

FAQ'S:

1. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE WE LOOKING TO SEND TO BURWOOD?

Ideally, 25 would be a great number to kickstart a launch team. This number depends on making sure we can fill key roles at Balmain to ensure we have a thriving campus at both locations.

2. HOW MUCH DO WE HAVE IN SAVINGS PRESENTLY?

$6000 only (as of Feb 07, the date of the vision update night). For more info on where the budget is at this year, check out Gav's part of the vision update night). We have cut back staffing and other costs for 2018 to ensure we move into black as soon as possible. We have budgeted according to what we took in on average last year.

3. How Will we FUND BURWOOD?

The four sources we will pursue are: 1) launch team members (external to City Light) 2) Gospel minded patrons (ex-City Light members and other contacts) 3) CCCAust (our denomination) and 4) City Light Balmain membership (so long as we are sufficiently covering our own budget. SEE BURWOOD CAMPUS DOCUMENT above for more info.
