TERM FOUR GROUP LAUNCH

READ ACTS 2:42-47

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

DISCUSS

1. (In pairs then as a group) What parts of this description of church community are counter-cultural today.

2. What parts of this description of community life do you find attractive / compelling?

3. How have you seen God’s grace at work in our group over this year so far?

Practical thinking for the term ahead.

1. Break into small groups of 3 or so and then report back: What would it look like for this term to be our best term yet as a City Light Community?

2. Are there any particular areas that you think we should be focusing on as a group as we seek to live out a christian community committed to growing ourselves and one another as disciples of Jesus?

3. Are there any expectations that would be helpful to have of one another in order to make our collective experience great?

4. How could we best love on another on the weeks when something prevents one of us from being able to meet together?

5. How could we have more fun as a group together this term?

6. What is a prayer we would love to see answered regarding our community this term?

Spend some time praying for the term in light of these questions.
