NEXT: YOU ARE A MISSIONARY

MATTHEW 28:18-20

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

MATTHEW 9:35-38

And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Questions
2. Using only this passage, how do we know that Jesus’ command to make disciples is for us today (and not just the disciples then)?

3. Is the command really for every single believer? Couldn’t it just be for some or even most believers?

4. Why is it important that Jesus is with us to complete this mission?

READ MATT 9:35-38

5. As Jesus is preaching the gospel how does He feel toward the people?

6. Do you tend to see people in this city like Jesus does?

Read the following quote:
“Why do you think Jesus would look at the crowds around him, with all their deep needs, and then turn to his disciples and tell them to pray for themselves?  The answer is humbling.  When Jesus looked at the harassed and helpless multitudes, apparently his concern was not that the lost would not come to the Father. Instead his concern was that his followers would not go to the lost.” -David Platt

7. What is the main thing that stops you from sharing the gospel with friends and family?
