The Way of Jesus.

Week 22 - Last week of term.

Before we break for a couple of weeks, tonight is an opportunity to spend a longer period in prayer, often on zoom our times of prayer are quite short. Theres a bunch to be praying about in the life of our church as well as a huge need to be praying for each other as we are in the tail end of the lockdown with energy depleted.

Start by watching Jez’s announcement video:

Complete the survey alone (should take less than 5 minutes)

Spend some time in prayer. Decide if you’d like to do this In Genders, mixed breakout rooms or as a whole group.
Before Sharing and praying, Read Hebrews 4:14-16 (from yesterdays reading from hebrews)

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

This passage speaks of a High priest who knows us in all of our struggles, and is merciful to us in them. What areas of weakness, temptation, need, or waivering faith would you like to take to God’s throne in prayer to receive grace?

(Repeat the question and give people a minute to reflect before sharing. You may want to be ready to share first, or have another person prepared to share first to set the tone, hopefully this will be a time where people share their real needs and struggles)

Pray for: (You may want to divide up the following prayer points among your group)

- The needs people have shared.

- The 6 People doing the Alpha Course, and those who will start doing Christianity Explored as a follow-on.

- That God would be in us as we gradually reopen public gatherings.

-That people would connect with one of the upcoming ‘Try something new’ events

- For the upcoming Doubt series.

- For the staff and leadership as start planning for the next year this coming week.
