The Way of Jesus.
Week 16 - Jesus’ heart for the lost
TRIVIA NIGHT: It’s not too late to register a team. Anyone welcome! Check social media for details.
Zoom has made it a bit harder to actually get into the bible so this evening the plan is to spend a bit of time in the passage alone before spending time in a brief discussion and prayer.
READ: MATTHEW 9:35-38
35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Take 10 minutes alone with your bible and some paper/pen and worth through the following: (Ie turn off microphones and camera but leave the call active so the leader can call you back.)
Read over this passage Slowly 2 or 3 times
Write Down:
1) Are there any words or phrases that really stand out to you in this moment?
2) What words would you use to describe Jesus based on what we see of him in this passage?
3) How do the two images that Jesus uses ( Sheep without a shepherd & a plentiful harvest ) help us think about those in our City?
4) Who in your life would Jesus be feeling compassion for right now?
Come back together.
Discuss:
As you spent time in the passage, was there anything that you felt that God really wanted to highlight for you?
What things could we pray for in response to this passage?
Pray together in response to the passage.
