FINANCE UPDATE: Share and pray through video

PRAY TO BEGIN

Read out Colossians 1:9, 11

We have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy

Spend some time in open prayer- asking that God would be speaking to our community through his word as we look to cast vision and unite our will and hearts with God’s will.

Read Revelation 5:9-13
And they sang a new song, saying,

“Worthy are you to take the scroll
    and to open its seals,
for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation,
10 and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God,
and they shall reign on the earth.”

11 Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice,

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!”

13 And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,

“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honour and glory and might forever and ever!”

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

Where we are heading

1. What truths does this passage communicate about Gods character?

2. What about this vision of the future comforts you, what about this passage challenges you?

Read Acts 1:6-9 and Acts 14: 21-23 (before reading these passages read out question 1 for people to ponder)

How God will bring us there

1. What stands out to you about how God has chosen to fulfil the vision to ‘ransom people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation’?

2. What about the early church excites/inspires you? (looking at Acts 14 particularly)

3. What do these passages communicate about how the early disciples lived in the tension of prayer and dependence on God with planning/action?

APPLY:
1. What is one are of your life you would need to surrender more over to God to truly live out this vision of the early church (in pairs)

2. As we look to envision what the next two years of City Light might look like- what is one hope you have for our church?

PRAY
If you can have an extended time of prayer. Pray through Psalm 127:1-2. Commit our hearts and our future into the Lords hand and pray that God will work mightily through his people and our unique context. That we would see over the next two years more and stronger disciples of Jesus.
