WEEK 7 - RESURRECTION

PRIMARY TEXT:

DANIEL 12:1-4

12 “At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise[a] will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.”

SECONDARY TEXT:

REVELATION 20: 11-14 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Read Daniel 12:1-4 and Revelation 20:11-14.

1. What stood out to you from these passages?

2. In your own words, why is death no longer the enemy for the Christian?

3. One major themes for entire book of Daniel is God controls the past, present, and future. How does this truth affect how a Christian lives their life, especially in the midst of an uncertain world?

4. Consider “ When you only have one temporary life to live, it becomes very hard to give that life away”
What does the extent to which you are living sacrificially say about what you believe about eternity?

5. Over this Christmas period, as you spend time with family and friends, what would it look like to relate to them with an eternal perspective?

6. What is one thing that you learned from the entire book of Daniel that you already have or want to put into practice?

Break into groups to pray in light of these last two questions.
